What is GENMail and GENZone?
GENMail (via genmail.net) provides a highly protected environment with attachment screening and strict security filtering. GENZone (via genzone.net) offers lighter restrictions and less filtering for simpler use cases.
Both services allow up to 100 email accounts per existing client. Accounts are created by raising a ticket at the HelpDesk. All accounts are hosted on the DAKOTA platform.
Key Considerations
- Account limits: Maximum 100 accounts per client across both services.
Storage
- Storage quotas:
- Default: 2048 items / 256MB storage per account.
Security
- GENMail includes attachment screening and advanced filtering.
- GENZone has minimal filtering – use only for low-risk purposes.
Retention
- Quotas encourage regular archiving; large mailboxes may slow performance.
- Delete unused accounts promptly to avoid storage issues.
- There are no backups or rollbacks for free accounts.
How to configure your email accounts
Configuration and access is available via the blue cloud on the GEN Website title bar, or via
https://www.gen.uk/index.php?page=cloudportal
These are all hosted on DAKOTA. For instructions on WebAccess see

And at the bottom of that FAQ is walk-throughs for common email clients.
