Toggle Call Recording
Last Updated 3 hours ago
To toggle call recording on FreePBX 17 from a handset or softphone using the *1 feature code, follow these steps:
This feature code is part of FreePBX's standard functionality and allows an end-user to start or stop recording an active call. The call recording state will toggle each time the code is dialled during the call.
During an Active Call (Recording Not Active):
- While you are on an active call and it is not currently being recorded, dial
*1on your handset or softphone's dial pad. - You will hear an audible announcement confirming that "Call recording has been started" or a similar message, depending on your system's configuration.
- The remainder of the call will now be recorded.
During an Active Call (Recording Active):
- While you are on an active call and it is currently being recorded, dial
*1on your handset or softphone's dial pad. - You will hear an audible announcement confirming that "Call recording has been stopped" or a similar message.
- The recording of the current call will cease from this point onwards.
Important Notes:
- This feature code operates only during an active call. Dialling
1when your phone is idle will typically have no effect or may try to dial1as an outbound number, depending on your dial plan. - The availability and specific auditory announcements for this feature code are dependent on your FreePBX system's configuration. Your system administrator may have customised or disabled this feature.
- Recorded calls are usually accessible via the User Control Panel (UCP) for your extension or through administrative access to the FreePBX system. The location and retention policy for recordings are determined by the system administrator.
