Frequently Asked Question

Domain Transfer to GEN
Last Updated about an hour ago

Transfer In

This process is standard across the domain estate with the exception of the UK which has it's own unique process.

For everyone else, the loosing registrar unlocks the domain and generates transfer codes which are provided to GEN via the DTA forms and/or via a ticket at the HelpDesk.

We then initiate the PULL of the domain from the loosing registrar to your account with GEN. The process may require a confirmation email sent to the domain owner.

Within 5 days the domain completes the transfer to GEN and lands in your account. We would have already setup DNS for you so this should be seamless.

IMPORTANT: Domains cannot be transferred within 3 months after registration, that's universal (except UK)

Transfer In - UK/Nominet

The UK has it's own process and is the exception (of course it is)

Initiate the transfer to GEN via the DTA forms and a ticket, and when asked, change the Nominet TAG to TUCOWS-CA

We will then link that up to your domain and it will land in your account. There is no safety check here, and no one else is asked to confirm.
